About FAMSA Upington
FAMSA has social workers and community workers with specialised training to assist the community with happier marriages and families.
FAMSA Upington opened its doors in May 1995 after the need was expressed in the Northern Cape. In 1997 FAMSA became an independent society. FAMSA Upington has branches in Kathu, Kuruman, Postmasburg, Springbok, Calvinia and Prieska.
FAMSA history and progress:
In October 1954 the South African National Council for Marriage Guidance and Counselling was established following a conference, the main theme being family problems and disintegration. Dr Mace and his wife, Vera, were invited to preside at this conference. The outcome was that everything revolves around a healthy and happy marriage and family life. “FAMSA – FAMILY SOUTH AFRICA” was established as a result of this need.
Presently FAMSA is registered in terms of the Non-profit Organisations Act. We have 28 affiliates across the country with satellite offices.
The progress FAMSA made over the past years is visible and tangible in the communities. The expansion in projects, clients and funds are all proof of success and blessings. FAMSA is indeed an NPO growing and keeping up with the times.
FAMSA is a Non-Profit Organisation and relay on, project funding; donations and grants. Thus, it is imperative to ensure that the life line (funding) is kept alive to ensure services to the communities.
